Celebrating Volunteer Appreciation Day 2025: Honouring Five Years of Heart-Led Action

Our Blog

On 12 July 2025, the CaringSG community gathered not just to mark a milestone — but to celebrate the people who made it all possible.

Volunteer Appreciation Day 2025 was a heartfelt tribute to those who have quietly and consistently walked alongside caregivers: our volunteers. Over the years, you have shown up with kindness, shared your time, and stood in solidarity with families navigating complex journeys. This celebration was for you.

The Heart Behind Our Work

Since CaringSG began five years ago, we’ve grown from a vision to a movement — supporting  caregivers and launching core initiatives like CAREbuddy, CAREwell, CAREconnect, and CAREcottage. But at the heart of every programme and event are our volunteers — caregivers themselves, professionals, students, and friends — each offering something unique.

You bring warmth to registration counters, confidence to peer circles, and joy to every gathering. You remind us that the most powerful support often comes not from systems, but from people simply being there for one another.

“Reinforcement and our commitment to share in this demanding caregiving journey.” — CAREbuddy volunteer
“Thank you for this wonderful time of reconnecting.” — Karen, CAREbuddy.

Music That Touched the Soul

Music has always had a way of expressing what words cannot. The Very Special Choir moved us with their heartfelt renditions of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, 有你就幸福 (Blessed to Have You), and Try Everything. For many in the audience, it was a deeply emotional moment.

“I enjoyed the special performance — it was heartwarming to see some caregivers performing alongside their children.” — CAREbuddy volunteer

The performance reminded us that no matter how different our paths are, we’re walking them together — with courage, creativity, and care.

Sweet Moments and Thoughtful Touches

Celebrating Five Years and Everyday Heroes

What made the day truly special were the little things that spoke volumes:

🎁 A beautiful door gift that included thoughtful items like wet wipes and tissues — practical, caring, and prepared with love.
🎂 A delicious cake-cutting session where everyone got to enjoy a slice of sweetness — marking CaringSG’s 5th birthday in the most heartfelt way.
🏆 A warm, joyful Volunteer Award Ceremony, where smiles, hugs, and applause filled the air.

“Thank you to the team for putting in extra time and effort for organising the VAD. The gift was so thoughtful — to include tissue paper and wet wipes.” — CAREbuddy
“Free & easy, short & sweet. Enough time to mingle. Good performance.” — CAREkaki
“Well done CaringSG team!!! And BIG THANK U.” — CAREkaki
“Congratulations!! Well done.” — CAREchampion

These simple joys, shared among people who care deeply, made the day feel like coming home. What made the day truly special wasn’t just the thoughtful gifts—it was the shared purpose and friendships that have been nurtured among volunteers over the past five years.

While we honoured specific volunteers for their dedication and contributions, the truth is: every one of you is part of CaringSG’s story.

Each hour volunteered, each kind message sent, each event supported — it all adds up to something extraordinary. You’ve helped build a movement rooted in empathy, shaped by real people with real hearts.

As Dr. David Ang, PBM, reminded us:

“The true impact of CaringSG is reflected in the unwavering commitment of volunteers, whose spirit fuels our mission to ensure every caregiver is well and empowered.”

And from Chief Executive Mr. Edwin Tan:

“From a simple question to a nationwide movement — together, we’ve empowered caregivers and built a community of compassion.”

There’s a Place for You Here

CaringSG was founded on the belief that no caregiver should walk alone. That belief has grown stronger with each volunteer who has said, “I’m here.”

If you’ve ever thought about giving back, we invite you to journey with us — in your own way, at your own pace. Whether it’s sharing your experience, helping at events, or supporting from behind the scenes, you can make a real difference.
