Be the change towards an inclusive community by contributing meaningfully to positively impact your neighbourhood community through inclusive events and logistic planning to support persons with disabilities and their families as you broaden your knowledge of diverse needs.

Course Objectives

Knowledge about various types of disabilities and the necessary support and accommodations needed by persons with disability.
Event planning skills to support families with or caregivers of persons with disabilities or developmental needs.

Details

Duration: 4 hours over 3 weeks.

Target Audience For Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident

Mode of delivery: Asynchronous e-learning modules + Physical sessions

Fee: S$0. The Grassroots Volunteer Training (GVT) programme is currently funded by SGE.

Programme Outline

Module A – Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) and Autism

Module B – Hearing Loss and Visual Impairment

Module C – Congenital Disorders, Physical Disabilities, and Caregiver Support

Course Requirement:

E-learning Module: All notes and videos in each module must be reviewed.
Quiz: Participants must work through the quiz in each module before attending the physical workshop. 100% course completion is compulsory for modules A, B, and C.
Physical Workshop: It is compulsory for participants to attend the physical workshop.

Certificate: An electronic certificate will be issued upon successful completion of the Public Volunteer Training Programme with all three criteria fulfilled.

Step One programme consists of four bite-sized e-modules with total duration of approx 2 hours that you can complete at your own pace within 3 months

Group support sessions

30 min of sharing by experts and experienced caregivers to reinforce learning in the e-modules

30 min of Q & A

1 hour of small group sharing facilitated by experienced caregivers
